Professional Profile

I start my architectural career in 1987 as Designer Assistant at Pão de Açucar Group, developing lay-outs to supermarkets and later designing the complete envelope.

After I finished my architectural study’s at Universidade Lusiada (1990 -1995) I begin working in the international practice office Cabeza & Sastre, developing retail buildings to Carrefour as Junior Architect.

At 1999 I had the luck to be selected out of  400 candidates to join the Portuguese brand Lanidor as responsible Architect I had to implement the new image brand in Portugal and Spain.

Invited to incorporate the Broadway Malyan team in 2000, I started to develop Shopping Center schemes as Senior Architect and later as Team Leader, spreading my skills to different areas of work such as; offices, resorts, residential schemes and sustainable architecture.
As part of the team we won a few international awards such as:

ICSC Merit Award at the ICSC International Design & Development Awards 2008

Mall of the Year at the Retail City Awards 2008

Best Shopping Centre at MAPIC Awards 2007

Best New Large Shopping Centre at the ICSC Awards 2007

The awards are related to the Forum Coimbra, and they were assigned one year after I leave the office.

In 2006 I started to cooperate at Pelicano, S.A. as Project Manager and Senior Architect in several hospitality schemes, coordinating and optimizing international offices. At Pelicano, I improved my managing skills and my sustainable vision of architecture.

Meantime I never stoped developing smaller residential schemes as freelancer or in a small practice founded with two university colleagues, the Triplicidade Arquitetos.

All my career  was develop around big architectural schemes, where a team is essential to achieve the clients goal that generally is directly related to cost control in a very tight deadline. The team coordination at the end is the key to have a controlled design at all levels.
